Don’t Worry About What Anyone Thinks

As you start down the road to designing and creating the life you want to live…

And making your own way, so you can “Escape the Employee Trap” and live life on YOUR terms…

You’ll surely run into family, friends and others who will have something to say about your “big goals” and dreams of a better life. Some will be coming from their perspective of living their whole life stuck in The Employee Trap. Some may feel jealous, even threatened, that you think you can live a better life than they can. And are taking action to get what you want out of life.

If you’re worried about what other people will think, about you not following the herd and “doing your own thing”… here’s a quick but ultimately important lesson for you. That I personally follow every day.

You may have heard the sayings, “Mind your own business” or “Keep up with yourself, not others.” Well it’s absolutely essential that you keep these in mind at all times. Don’t worry about what someone else is doing or not doing. Just be concerned with what YOU are doing or not doing.

And when you start feeling “worried” about what someone else will think or say about you… the best position you can take… that will serve you well as you chart out your own Ideal Life, as you begin designing and creating the life you want to live… is:

Don’t be concerned with what ANYONE thinks about you, or what you’re doing.

Now if you’re married, you have to at least listen to what your spouse has to say. That’s only fair. But that does not mean you must let that guide your actions or your direction. Or affect your motivation, excitement and enthusiasm for your “big plans”.

Absolutely, under NO circumstances, should you let yourself be affected, swayed, or in any other respect altered in YOUR convictions… YOUR plan for having a better life… YOUR thinking, ideas, beliefs and action steps required to make what you want a reality. You MUST make this a LAW that you live by every day. And never bend or give in to anyone. Not even one inch. I don’t, ever.

As long as you are acting as a good person, and moving forward with good intent, you have nothing to “worry” about when someone doesn’t like, approve or find value in what you are doing. Or who you are.

It’s YOUR life after all. And you have the right to live it any way you wish and as LARGE as you wish (as long as you’re not bringing harm to others).

Look. There will always be “nay-sayers” in your life. Some will be friends or acquaintances. Some may even be a lot closer to you, like your spouse, parents, children and others. The bottom line is…

Don’t let anyone stand in your way of getting what you want.

If you do, it’s not their fault for ruining your plans and squashing your dreams like bug on the floor. It is actually YOUR fault for letting what someone else thinks affect YOU.

Anyone who has achieved anything of value, has run into resistance. Call them “haters” or just jealous friends or family members. The fact is, you’re not going to set yourself up to live the life you want to live if you don’t get out there and make it happen.

And that means “keeping up with yourself always”… and never worrying about anyone else, no matter what they say or do.

To make this easier, it’s a good idea to surround yourself with people who support YOU. Who want to see you achieve anything you want in life. Hang out with people who are positive. Who have been successful in some way themselves. Who maybe even have achieved great success.

And leave the negative people behind. Let the nay-sayers and haters say what they want to say, and think what they want to think. If you embrace today’s lesson, you won’t worry about them one bit. You’ll just keep moving forward, step by step, day by day until you get whatever you’re after.

It can be an effort to just stay on track, minding yourself. So you keep moving in the right direction. Don’t waste your energy on people who don’t matter. And that goes for family members too. Not that they don’t matter, but they have absolutely no say in how you should or do live your life. As long as you’re trying to create a better life for you and your family. And helping others in some way.

I’d love to hear your thoughts about this. So feel free to leave a comment below.

Until next time…
